Grants
Types of Grant funding, Uses and Eligibility Criteria

Types of Grants

Two broad types of grants will be disbursed and in any one year a Civil Society Organisation can only apply for one but not both types of grants. The two types are:

  • Grants to “Intermediary”  Civil Society Organisations, which must include disbursement of intermediary grants to grassroots CBOs. An intermediary Civil Society Organisation will use this grant for working with and strengthening civil society capacity at the district and community levels to carry out citizen-government engagement.
  • Direct Grants to Civil Society Organisations themselves, which they can use for direct citizen-government engagement (CGE) at the regional and national levels Ghana using rights based approaches and people centred advocacy.

Normally all Civil Society Organisations will have a base or constituency with grass-roots organisations, but in a few Direct CGE cases, focused on very spcific or single issues, the grant may not necessarily include capacity building of CBOs.
